The Annual Ellen P. Hermanson Memorial Symposium
JALBCA’s Annual Ellen P. Hermanson Memorial Symposium aims to educate the legal community on the current events of breast cancer. The Symposium is held in memory of Ellen Hermanson herself, JALBCA’s first Executive Director. While serving as JALBCA’s ED, Ellen took charge in organizing and coordinating the Symposium each year, and JALBCA has continued the program in her legacy with the ongoing support of the Ellen Hermanson Foundation established by her family.
JALBCA presents its annual symposium on cutting-edge regulatory, industry, and legal issues relevant to the search for a cure and access to diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer. These interactive events, with the participation of judges, legal and regulatory experts, and renowned physicians, provide an essential source of high-level information to our members and audiences. Recent symposia have addressed conflicts of interest in breast cancer research, put “Mammograms on Trial” in a courtroom setting, and debated whether AI or your doctor was better at diagnosing breast cancer at a mock FDA hearing. JALBCA provides CLE credit and an opportunity for the audience made up of lawyers, experts and breast cancer survivors to engage with experts and mingle at a networking reception after the event.
