  • Name: Salina Nasir

    Recipient Year: 2017

Description: Salina is a graduate of UC Berkeley’s School of Journalism, where she received her master’s degree in narrative writing. Her reporting has taken her from India’s hinterland to the occupied territories of Israeli-Palestine and beyond. Her work can be found in HuffPost, SF Magazine, and the East Bay Express. She has worked closely with human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and Change.org, and also as a volunteer working with refugees on the Greek island of Leros. She cares deeply for asylum-seekers and displaced persons and intends to bring back their stories in an effort to humanize an otherwise politicized topic. She currently works in tech, where she manages global security partnerships, but she also serves as a Senior Writer for StoryTerrace and continues to practice her passion of story-telling part-time.
