  • Name: Kareem Soussan

    Recipient Year: 2024

Description: Kareem graduated from the University of Houston in May 2022 with a B.S. in Economics and a minor in Politics & Ethics. While on a pre-law track during undergrad, Kareem realized that the negative portrayal of Muslims and Islam in media served as a significant obstacle toward attaining justice for Muslims within the criminal justice system. Because of this, he decided to lean toward his passion for film and television and pursue an M.F.A in Television Writing and Producing at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Kareem believes that the language of America today isn't English, rather, it's Film & Television and so it's important for Muslims to make significant strides in this powerful art form. Kareem hopes to make films and television that are deeply inspired by the Islamic tradition and Islamic history.
